ryanfiller_ I'd guess "it's complicated". These are the intended behaviors, but my framing of them as "origin-like" & "scope-like" wasn't. But I think everyone would agree those features deserve their own syntax. Which is why I'm now a spec author on both CSS Layers & a new Scope syntax. 😅On twitter.com

ryanfiller_ I think of those analogies (layers, scopes) as helpful for understanding how CSS variables relate to the cascade. Those concepts are absolutely intended behavior. But if you built an entire framework to recreate a full Scope feature using only vars… That's probably not helpful.Permalink On twitter.com
