    HCatlin Strong agree. I recall a mix of concerns getting attention around the same time: - "modular" trends made 1-offs unpopular - "selector performance" articles called (left-aligned) IDs slow - OOCSS "avoid location-based styles" morphed into BEM one-unique-class-for-everything

      HCatlin As often happens in code communities, a few "good to think about" issues were turned into a hard-and-fast "never use IDs" rule that spread. There was a similar "never use element selectors" rule that became popular around the same time…
