If a website allowed you to (persistently) adjust colors & contrast settings, including light/dark mode, would you find that useful? How would you expect that sort of "color settings" option to be labeled?

I should clarify that the defaults are already accessible-contrast, and already respond to OS-settings like
prefers-color-scheme
. The question is specifically about options to override those OS-level settings. -
In my mind user-customization has been a goal of the web from the start, & the entire basis for a cascade. That stems from a belief that people do *not* all have exactly the same, predictable needs at all times. Contrast preferences may change depending on ambient light, etc…

To me: the belief that we can predict and account for all user-needs in advance, providing exactly the right universal settings -- that's the belief that consistently gets our industry in trouble.
