I often tell people something like: you can absolutely make html/css your central skillset – but what you sell clients are things like: a11y, performance, responsive layout, design systems, etc. Still, my experience is all client work. Many projects will also require a bit of php, or JS, or something else. So it helps to understand those basics… or… The coolest thing about client work is hand-picking collaborators who balance out your interests & skills well. Lots of freedom to define your own roles.On twitter.com
