    1. Design is contextual. User experiences are contextual. The web itself is contextual, in order to be cross-platform, interface-agnostic, and multilingual. CSS is declarative _so that_ it can adapt to context. No style property exists in isolation.

    Use utility classes if you like them, but "pure functions" isolated from context will never be a realistic or useful goal in web design. We're dealing with a fundamentally unique problem-space, and we can't just slap any old imperative programming paradigm onto it.
